Thesis - Juno: Protector of Women
My thesis project follows a narrative about the Roman goddess Juno, the protector of women. I wanted a project that was focused on creating a safe community for women, and when I was researching her I thought she was the perfect foundation for that community to exist. My body of work consists of three paintings and one jewelry set of earrings and a necklace. Growing up Roman Catholic, I took inspiration from the religious imagery I had seen. Each painting tells a part of her story and fits in a larger narrative. The jewelry set is a relic of her past, something that connects us with her spirit even if she isn’t physically there. Religions are built on hope, and I wanted my work to reflect that.
